Lauren & Drew have been in Hawaii for a week, and I was entrusted with ONE JOB--to take care of Lauren's newly-planted herbs. I agreed, with hesitation. (And, as a disclaimer, Lauren was aware of the risk because she was the one who gave us the cactus!) I watered them, as instructed, every other day; saved them from Molly once; provided ample sunlight (or so I thought). However, Russell noticed yesterday that 1 of the 3 herbs had just shriveled up into a black, crunchy deathpile. No slowly turning yellow & dying; it just crumped. Awesome.
So, I snuck down to Central Market today and conveniently enough, it's Herb Fest. I had a pathetic little piece as my example and no idea what it was (even though I'd been told by Lauren, and even though there's obviously a cardboard sign in the pot). The herb guru smelled it, rubbed it & bonded with it and decided that it was spearmint. I had the audacity to argue, ended up buying something completely different, and ended up making a return trip when I realized that, in fact, it was spearmint. This is after the re-planting. Nevermind that it's ginormous compared to the other 2! I pick the Skaggs up at DFW tomorrow, so we'll see if I can suppress my guilty conscience long enougth to see if they notice!
I'm better with patients; I promise!

You crack me up! Seriuosly...so funny!
Oh, I am laughing. I wish that I could have seen you arguing with Mr. "Herb" in person. I love that he bonded with the injured plant that you brought in. The new plant looks amazing (did Central Market inject it with some kind of herb steroid?).
Hey Sara. My mom and I were talking and she asked me where you live. I didn't even know. Where are y'all now?
I love reading your blog! Good luck with the upcoming Ironman Race! I know he will do awesome. Also I purchased several herbal plants during second year because Brian was cooking a lot and watching food network. Lets just say all but two of them died within a week. So I would have done the same thing.
